Eagles Split Opening Day at Jacksonville Classic

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Georgia Southern Eagles (9-10) split the opening day at the Jacksonville Classic on Friday, earning an 8-0 run-rule victory over Presbyterian before dropping a tightly contested matchup to Jacksonville later in the afternoon.

Georgia Southern opened tournament play at the Jacksonville Classic with a dominant performance, defeating Presbyterian 8-0 in run-rule fashion Friday afternoon.
The Eagles wasted little time getting on the board, plating two runs in the opening inning to set the tone early. Georgia Southern continued to apply pressure at the plate over the next several frames, stringing together timely hits and aggressive baserunning to steadily build its lead.
A key offensive surge in the middle innings helped the Eagles pull away. Georgia Southern capitalized on multiple scoring opportunities, pushing across several runs to extend the advantage and put the run rule within reach.
Freshman Jaycee Bilbrey paced the Eagles' offense with a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI. Emma Davis followed with a 2-for-3 performance, adding a run and two RBI, while Kayla Christensen went 2-for-4 and scored once.
Alana Barnard (2-5) delivered a strong performance in the circle for the Eagles, keeping Presbyterian's offense in check throughout the game.
