Georgia Southern returns to action on Friday, hosting App State at Wallis
LAFAYETTE, La. – Georgia Southern women's tennis suffered a 4-2 loss to Louisiana on Friday at the Tigue Tennis Center, concluding their two-match road trip.
The Eagles started the day strong, claiming victories from the No. 1 doubles pair of Evelyn Warkentin and Angelina Mihajlovic (6-4) and the No. 3 duo of Nanaka Kijima and Franzi Heinemann (7-5). The No. 2 team of Lisen Rinman and Mackenzie Leopold led 6-5 before their match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Georgia Southern secured one victory as Franzi Heinemann earned a straight-set win at No. 3 singles (6-1, 7-5). However, Louisiana captured four singles matches to clinch the overall decision in a competitive afternoon matchup. The Ragin' Cajuns posted wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, while the No. 6 singles match went unfinished in the third set.
With the result, Georgia Southern falls 7-9 on the season, while Louisiana advances to 11-3 overall. The Eagles will return to action on Friday, April 3, hosting App State in a 10 a.m. match at the Wallis Tennis Center.
