The Eagles and Dukes have developed a competitive rivalry since JMU joined the Sun Belt Conference, tied 5-5 all-time. Several meetings between the programs have been tightly contested, including multiple one-run games, highlighting the competitive nature of the matchup.
This weekend marks another key early-season conference test as both teams begin their push toward the Sun Belt standings.
Georgia Southern enters conference play with an offense that has shown the ability to produce extra-base hits and timely run production.
Leading the Eagle offense early in the season is freshman Jaycee Bilbrey, who is batting .439 with 25 hits, three doubles, 12 runs and 10 RBI through the early portion of the season. Her power presence at the top of the lineup gives Georgia Southern a consistent run-producing threat.
Kayla Christensen has also been productive at the plate, hitting .384 while providing speed on the bases, stealing four bases and consistency at the one-spot of the lineup. Senior outfielder Emma Davis continues to provide veteran leadership and offensive production, batting .323 with multiple extra-base hits and 15 RBI.
The Dukes traditionally rely on disciplined at-bats and a pitching staff capable of limiting opposing offenses. Their lineup features several experienced hitters capable of producing extra-base hits while maintaining high on-base percentages.
JMU's pitching staff has historically been one of the strongest units in the conference, often setting the tone in weekend series and allowing the Dukes to control the pace of games.
The series will start on Friday, March 13, at 6 p.m. ET, and all games will be streamed on ESPN+.
