HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jack Myers started the series going two-for-two at the plate, including an RBI-single in the third to give Southern the lead.
- USF collected RBI-groundouts in both the third and fourth innings to take a 2-1 lead.
- A leadoff double from Nico Senese followed by two hit batters would load the bases with two away in the fifth.
- The next two ABs saw a two-RBI single through the infield for Sean White followed by a three-run homer from Max Prozny, the first of his career, to put the Eagles up 6-2.
- The Bulls responded right back as two leadoff singles and a walk loaded up the bases. USF's Kulikowski launched a grand slam to tie the game, followed later by a fielder's choice to put Southern down by a run.
- A leadoff double and two walks just an inning later for USF would load up the bases once again, this time facing Brady Pendley. With only one away, an unfortunate slow single scored one to make it 8-6, but a looking K and a flyout limited the damage to just a lone run.
- A double play on a line drive caught by Prozny in right field then gunning a runner down back at first froze USF's momentum offensively in the seventh.
- Prozny came in clutch again as he took a 2-2 pitch to left-center field for back-to-back homers for him in the evening, cutting the deficit to one.
- The Bulls got their final run off another RBI groundout hit, then closed the contest by striking out three straight Eagles.
NOTES:
- Prozny collected his first two homers of his career, and the first Eagle to have two in a contest since Cade Parker on May 15th of last year at Marshall.
- Brady Christman picked up his first career hit off a slow hit dribbler in the infield that he beat the throw to first of.
- Will Robbins would have another scoreless outing, his third of the young season, by sitting down both batters he faced on the night, including one via the K.
UP NEXT:
- The Eagles take on the Bulls for Game Two of the series tomorrow (Feb. 21st) at 2 PM.
