
Women's Golf Opens Spring Schedule at Lady Puerto Rico Classic

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern women's golf opens the 2026 Spring schedule on Sunday morning, competing in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue. The Lady Puerto Rico Classic will take place at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The Par 72 course is set to play 6,305 total yards, with both days featuring shotgun starts. Due to the threat of rain on Monday and Tuesday in Rio Grande, the tournament will begin on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. ET, as the teams are scheduled to play 36 holes to open the tournament. The remainder of the tournament, 18-holes or what wasn't completed on Sunday, will take place on Monday at 7:30 a.m. ET.
The field will consist of host Purdue, No. 4 Arkansas, Furman, Georgia Southern, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, LSU, Minnesota, Michigan State, Michigan, No. 14 North Carolina, North Texas, No. 20 Northwestern, No. 15 Ole Miss, UNCW, and No. 10 Vanderbilt.

- Freshman Margaux Brejo collected a silver medal at the 2025 Deaflympics over the break, posting a three-over-par three-round total of 219 (73-73-73). The Fontainbleau, France, native finished two shots ahead of Canada's Erica Dawn Rivard, who finished with a five-over-par tournament total.
- Head coach Mimi Burke enters the second half of her fifth season in Statesboro, after guiding the Eagles to their first NCAA Championship appearance last season. Throughout that season, the Eagles claimed six tournament titles and finished first in the Sun Belt Conference Championship during stroke play. Georgia Southern was selected to the Lexington Regional where they tied for second place with a 10-under tournament tally to advance to the NCAA Championship.
- Earlier this season, Georgia Southern collected a fourth-place finish in its home tournament, posting a 9-3-0 record in the 13-team field. The Eagles posted a total-team tally of 908 strokes, including a round of 294 in the second day of competition.
- Freshman Margaux Brejo and junior Haven Ward registered top 10 finishes for the Blue and White during the Fall portion of the schedule, as Brejo and Ward both tied for ninth at The Southern.
