Burke Signs Extension Through 2028-29 Season

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Chris Davis has announced the signing of head women's golf coach Mimi Burke to a three-year contract extension, which will keep her in Statesboro through 2028-29.
Entering her sixth season at the helm of the Eagle women's golf program, Burke has guided Georgia Southern to the program's first national championship appearance in 2025, collected the school's first Sun Belt Conference title in 2022, appeared in two regionals, claimed 14 tournament championships, and coached eight different individual tournament champions. Burke has added 14 All-Sun Belt recipients, eight Sun Belt award winners, five WGCA All-America Scholars, and four All-Sun Belt tournament players.
During the 2025 campaign, the Eagles finished tied for 24th place at the 2025 NCAA National Championship, marking the highest finish by a Sun Belt school since the 2009 season. Georgia Southern went on to win six tournament championships on the season and secured the highest ranking in program history sitting at No. 32 in the country. The Eagles shattered the team average program record (291.40) and tallied the programs second most team birdies (383). Burke was named to the WGCA National Coach of the Year watch list and honored as the Sun Belt Coach of the Year twice.
In year three, Burke led the team to a runner-up finish at the Sun Belt Championship along with two team wins, five top-5 finishes, and nine top-10 team finishes in the 2023-24 season. Under her guidance, Louise Reau earned Sun Belt Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors and became the first Eagle to secure and individual bid to a NCAA Regional. The awards mark the first freshman in league history to receive both awards and the first time and Eagle has earned a pair of honors. Additionally, Burke mentored two first-team All-Sun Belt selections and two second-team selections.
