
Men’s Basketball Signs Transfer Forward Alden Applewhite

Memphis native averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 2024-25 at Murray State
STATESBORO– Men's basketball has inked Murray State transfer forward Alden Applewhite to the 2025-26 roster.
Applewhite comes to Statesboro after stops at Mississippi State, Portland and Murray State, collecting over 500 points and 250 rebounds at the Division I level.
The Memphis native spent the last two seasons with the Racers, averaging 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 53 games played. He totaled 157 rebounds, 46 assists, 37 steals and five blocks in his time with MSU.
In 2024-25, Applewhite averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds, scoring in double digits six times, including a career-best 22 at UIC on Jan. 15. In an early-season bout at ACC opponent Pittsburgh, Applewhite scored 11 points and grabbed a season-best eight rebounds.
Applewhite finished the season as a .393 shooter from the field (55-of-140), .391 from the 3-point line (27-of-69) and .743 from the free throw line (55-of-74).
In his lone season with the Pilots, he saw action in 32 games, making five starts, scoring 7.7 points per game and grabbing 2.9 rebounds. He finished the year 69-of-154 (.448) from the field, 19-of-61 (.311) from the 3-point line and 90-of-127 (.709) from the free throw line.
Previously, Applewhite played two games at Mississippi State as a freshman before redshirting. At the high school level, attended the high-profile Arizona Compass Prep and averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during the 2020-21 season.
He was rated as the No. 172 recruit in the nation and No. 35 small forward in the Class of 2021 according to 247Sports.com. Before joining Arizona Compass Prep, he led Houston High School to the program's first Tennessee state tournament appearance and averaged 15.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during the 2019-20 season. He was also named all-league and the District 15-AAA Tournament Most Valuable Player.
