Eagles move to 11-7 in conference play
MONROE, La. – Georgia Southern softball dropped game three of the series, 2-1, over ULM on Saturday afternoon at ULM Softball Complex.
Georgia Southern (27-20, 11-7 SBC) struck first for the second consecutive game, scoring on a ULM miscue to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Madi Gillespie led off the inning drawing a hit by pitch before scoring the Eagles lone run of the game.
ULM (33-16, 13-5 SBC) answered with an RBI double in the bottom of the third to even the score, 1-1.
The squads would head into the seventh all square as Georgia Southern would work two runners in scoring position but the Eagles would fail to take the lead. ULM worked the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh before plating the game winning run on an RBI single through the right side.
Alana Barnard made her ninth start of the season tossing 2.1 innings allowing one run on four hits before Morgan Kendrick (2-4) suffered the loss tossing the final 4.2 innings of work allowing one run on four hits.
Faith Barth led the offense collecting half of the Eagle's hits going 2-for-4 as Gracie Bellard and Madison Humber tallied hits in the contest.
