Eagles move to 9-4 in conference play
TROY, Ala. – Georgia Southern dropped a close contest to Troy, 2-0, on Friday night at Troy Softball Complex
The Georgia Southern offense put runners on in five straight innings but tallied just one hit in the contest and left five runners on base. On the other side, Troy tallied three hits in the contest, two by way of the long ball.
Kayla Christensen led off the game drawing a walk before Emma Davis recorded a sacrifice bunt to move Christensen in scoring position but strikeout and fly out ended the threat. The Eagles looked to even the score in the fifth with a runner on third but a fielder's choice once again limited the opportunity.
Troy jumped out in front in the second on a solo home run in the second and extended its lead with its second solo home run of the night, for the final score, 2-0.
Madison Humber recorded the lone hit for the Eagles in the third.
Maddie Johnson (12-7) suffered the loss in the circle tossing six complete innings allowing two runs on three hits and tallied three strikeouts.
