STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis notched a 4-0 Sun Belt win over Southern Miss on Senior Day, Sunday at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Eagles moved to 14-6 overall and 5-1 in the Sun Belt, finishing off an impressive 7-1 record at Wallis in the Spring of 2025. Southern Miss falls to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Georgia Southern eventually claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles after a rain delay of 40 minutes interrupted play.
The Eagles then clinched the victory with three straight-set singles wins. Aaron James Williams notched a 6-3, 6-0 win over Rasmus Becker at No. 3 singles, then senior Laurent Julia Calac finished off a 6-2, 6-1 win over Niklas Jensen at No. 5 singles. Senior Dimitris Paliouras then delivered a 6-2, 6-0 win over Saleb Sodhi at No. 1 singles for the clincher.
In a pre-match ceremony, the Eagles honored their five seniors - Calac, Paliouras, Pol del Castillo, Alex Amacher and Alex Suk.
"This weekend was about our seniors," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach Andrew Goodwin said. "The five of them have been instrumental in getting this program to where it is today. I thought how we worked through whatever was thrown at us today and yesterday just embodies what they've done. From where this program was when they first came in to where it is now is night and day and that's a testament to the kind of young men they are and it's what they've decided they want out of this whole experience. I feel very lucky that they are a part of this and I'm really grateful for what they, and the rest of the team, have done."
