STATESBORO - Bremen Butler and
Emme Walrath of the Georgia Southern rifle team have been named All-Americans by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Associate (CRCA), as announced by the organization.
Butler, a sophomore from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was named a second-team All-American in air rifle and to the honorable mention squad in smallbore. She earned SoCon Smallbore and Air Rifle Athlete of the Year honors and made first-team all-conference in both disciplines. Butler took third place in the SoCon smallbore finals and placed fourth in the air rifle finals. She is averaging 584.461 in smallbore, what would be a school-record 595.846 in air rifle and 1,180.308 in aggregate heading into the NCAA Championships. She tied the school record with a 599 in air rifle at Army on Oct. 24 and set the school record in smallbore with a 594 at Murray State on Jan. 11. She shot a career-high 1,191 aggregate that day, tying the school record and becoming just the third Georgia Southern rifle shooter in program history to break 1,190 aggregate.
Walrath, a freshman from Kenosha, Wisconsin, earned second-team All-America honors in both smallbore and air rifle, as well as third-team honors in aggregate. She was a first-team all-conference selection in both smallbore and air rifle and was name the Co-Freshman of the Year in the SoCon. Walrath was the bronze medalist in air rifle at the SoCon Championships and took fourth place in the smallbore finals. She is averaging 587.231 in smallbore, 595.462 in air rifle and 1,182.692 in aggregate entering the NCAA Championships. Butler tied the school record twice with a 599 in air rifle on Oct. 19 and 20, both at Army West Point and set the school record in aggregate with a 1,191 on Oct. 20 at Army West Point.
The Eagle squad qualified for the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships, to be held March 14 and 15 in Lexington, Kentucky, for the first time in program history.
