Box Score KENNESAW - The No. 75-ranked Georgia Southern men's tennis team notched its third straight win with a 4-0 victory at Kennesaw State on Friday afternoon in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Eagles move to 6-4 on the season and pick up their first win as a nationally-ranked squad this season with the victory over the Owls, who fall to 3-4. Georgia Southern will visit Chattanooga on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest to wrap up the week's road action.
Georgia Southern picked up 6-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point against the Owls.
The Eagles then finished off the victory with three straight-set singles wins. Matthew Mitchell delivered a 6-4, 6-0 win over Leo Phijidvijan at No. 6 singles, while Dimitris Paliouras collected a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mikolaj Lis at No. 1 singles. Pol del Castillo then clinched with his 6-4, 6-4 win over Anthony Weingarten at No. 3 singles.
"I thought the guys were locked in on the team today and very clear on what they needed to bring for one another," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach Andrew Goodwin said. "We're going to be tested tomorrow at Chattanooga, but we can't wait for the challenge!"
