SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Georgia Southern women's cross country team closed out its regular season at the Upstate XC Invite on Saturday, placing ninth out of 23 teams.
Though the finish wasn't an improvement from their first trip to Upstate earlier this season, the meet offered another chance for the squad to measure progress and fine-tune before conference competition.
Elizabeth Stamey once again paced the Eagles, clocking an 18:50.3 to finish 41st overall. Lauren Voutour followed close behind in 54th at 18:58.7, while Hannah Douglas (19:16.9) and Julia Wilson (19:18.4) finished within two seconds of each other in 68th and 69th place, respectively. Tristen Crosby rounded out the team's top five with a 19:19.3 finish, good for 72nd overall.
Meg Anderson (19:59.3) and Katie Casto (20:00.8) continued to add depth to the Eagles' lineup, while Rebecca Stratton (20:26.4), Rylan Holmquist (20:42.6) and Gabi Westfall (20:51.9) rounded out the team's efforts on the course.
Georgia Southern now turns its attention to the Sun Belt Championship on Oct. 31, where the Eagles will look to build on a season of steady growth and experience when they line up for the conference race.
