Freshmen Debut as Cross Country Take Fifth at Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern's women's cross country team opened its 2025 campaign at the Eye Opener meet, hosted by USC Upstate on Friday evening, with several freshmen making their collegiate debuts as Eagles.
Georgia Southern claimed fifth place after No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Furman, No. 3 NYU and No. 4 Hope.
Seven newcomers earned their stripes in their first collegiate meet: Elizabeth Stamey, Katie Casto, Ava Schmitt, Meg Anderson, Gabi Westfall, Lauren Voutour and Rebecca Stratton.
