Jacksonville, Fla. --- The Georgia Southern swim & dive team took down North Florida this past Saturday afternoon by a score of 153-109. The win is their first of the season for the swim team.
At the meet, three Eagles set new season bests as
Anna Cesario dropped nearly 1.5 seconds with her fifth-place time of 2:15:24 in the 200 fly. Additionally, Maddie Banks improved by half a second with her sixth-place time of 2:15:37 in the 200 back while
Jamison Tiller dropped a whopping 3.38 seconds on her 500 free time to place second at 5:14:59, only trailing her teammate
Zuri Clavo by just over a second.Â
Georgia Southern's 400 free relay team secured first, third, and sixth in the event with the top time of 3:33:51 coming from the squad of
Scout Chapin,
Chiara Alberti, Alex pope, and
Alyssa Ifill. It was the first time this season that an Eagles relay team came first this season.
Many of the Eagles had standout performances such as Alberti, who along with helping to win the 400 free relay, placed first in both the 50 and 100 free. Clavo also secured wins in both the individual events she swam in the 1650 free and a 5:13:48 in the 500 free.
Sarah Luskus stepped up in a big way for the Eagles as the freshman won two events on the afternoon. The Cumming, Ga. native won both the 200 breast and 400 IM events with her times of 2:24:07 and 4:40:54, respectively.
Sally Ouzts also got an event win with her time of 2:09:96 in the 200 back, her first event win as an Eagle. Along with the 400 free relay,
Alex Pope also conquered the 200 free with her winning time of 1:57:42. Of the 14 events on the day, Georgia Southern took the top spot in nine of them.
Next for the Eagles is their last home meet of the season on January 25th where North Florida has their turn to make the trip right back. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m with Senior Day festivities commencing approximately 15 minutes before start time.
