MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia Southern cross country opened its 2024 campaign winning the team title and freshman Emily Wheldon set a course record for the individual title at the Georgia Military College Brickyard Invitational. 

In her Georgia Southern debut, Wheldon secured the individual title with a time of 18:56.50 to set the GMC home course record. 

The Eagles swept the top-3 spots as Isabel Ptacek finished second clocking in at 19:02.06 and Yolanda Brooks crossed the line with a time of 19:20.15 in her first meet as an Eagle. 

Seven Eagles finished in the top-10 as freshman Julia Wilson took fifth place with a time of 19:55.80. Tristen Crosby finished seventh with a time of 20:12.59, Ella Zierdt placed eighth with a time of 20:26.29, and Katie Ranck finished tenth clocking in at 20:49.27. 

Rounding out the Eagle's entries Ansley Fullen placed 17th followed by 18th place Ciara Sulton, Megan Hilton finished 27th, Melanie Tribick placed 31st. 

As a team, Georgia Southern finished well in front of second place Reinhardt.
