STATESBORO - Former collegiate standout Connor Pollman has been hired as the new assistant coach for the Georgia Southern men's golf team, as announced Friday by head coach Carter Collins. Pollman comes to Statesboro after serving as the assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at his alma mater, Lee University.

"We are extremely excited about Connor Pollman joining our program," Collins said. "He comes to Statesboro with an impressive playing and coaching resume. Connor has a tremendous reputation for his strong work ethic, knowledge of the game, and a passion for player development and recruiting. He will make an immediate positive impact and help our program continue to reach our goals in the coming years. Hail Southern!"

As a coach, Pollman helped lead the Lee (Tenn.) men's team to a berth in the NCAA DII National Championship by leaping five spots from a tie of eighth place into a tie for third on the final day of the Regional Tournament. Additionally, Oliver Lewis-Perkins earned all-region honors and was named Gulf South Conference golfer of the year. On the women's side, Lee also qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA South Regional. Supuschaya "Yui" Srichantamit was named Gulf South Conference Golfer of the Year and two other golfers were named First-Team All-GSC.

From Cumming, Georgia, Pollman began his golfing career in 2017-18 and also excelled in the classroom earning an undergraduate degree in business management in 2021 and a master's in business administration in 2022, both from Lee.

"I am incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to join the Georgia Southern Men's Golf Program," Pollman said. "I believe the opportunity for continued success in Statesboro is very high for the program. I am extremely impressed by Coach Collins. His passion, vision, and dedication for Georgia Southern Golf is outstanding. I am excited for the opportunity to get to serve him and the team in the coming years. I look forward to my time at Georgia Southern and pursuing after the goals we will have as a program! Hail Southern!"

On the course, Pollman played an integral part in Lee's 2022 Division II national championship as he finished fifth individually and went 3-0 against three All-Americans in medal play. Pollman also helped his team to a pair of quarterfinal appearances and was a part of seven team wins, including three in the postseason.

Individually, Pollman posted a 73.56 career scoring average, which is the sixth best in program history and he played a school-record 126 career rounds. He had four top-five finishes, eight top-10 finishes and 14 top-20 finishes out of 43 career events, earning first-team all-conference, all-region and second-team All-America honors.

Pollman replaces Daniel Castles, who stepped down from his position following the season to pursue other professional opportunities.

"I want to thank Coach Castles for moving his family to Statesboro and his efforts during his time at Georgia Southern working within our program," Collins said.
