Josh Tate Named All-Sun Belt Second Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Championships taking place this week in Montgomery, Alabama, the Sun Belt Conference has announced the recipients of its yearly postseason awards. Among those was Georgia Southern's Josh Tate, who earned All-Conference Second Team honors for utility player.
Josh Tate was an instant-impact player for the Eagles after transferring from UGA, leading off in every single game the Eagles played this season ... Tate split time this season between the outfield and second base, playing a combined 20 games in the outfield and 35 as the Eagles' second baseman. Tate led the Eagles in several offensive categories, including batting average (.373), hits (81), runs (59), OB% (.481), and stolen bases (25) ... His 37 walks were tied with two other Eagles for the team lead ... Tate's 81 hits are the third-best in league, as is his 25 steals this season ... His .373 BA is the fifth-best in the Sun Belt Conference ... Tate is also top 10 in the SBC in OB% (fifth) and runs (eighth).
Georgia Southern kicks off Sun Belt Conference Championship play on Wednesday night against fourth-seeded James Madison. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
