MONROE, La. - Georgia Southern baseball is set to take on the ULM Warhawks over in Monroe, Louisiana, for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series. First pitch from the Pelican State is set for 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.
Georgia Southern carries a 23-21 record into the series after a 4-1 week last week, splitting a midweek series with the Mercer Bears but emphatically sweeping the Marshall Thundering Herd by a combined score of 39-10 as part of a 57-run week for the Blue and White. ULM carries a 20-25 record into the contest after dropping a midweek contest to Louisiana Tech but rebounding with a run-rule victory over Alcorn State the next day. In the previous weekend's action, ULM dropped the bookends of the series against Old Dominion to fall to 7-14 in conference.
Georgia Southern holds a 16-6 overall record against the Warhawks and is currently on a seven-game win streak against ULM. Last season, the Eagles hosted ULM for Alumni Weekend, where that Saturday the Eagles set a new school record for runs scored in a single game at 35, breaking the previous record set in 2007 by just a single run. Since joining the Sun Belt, Southern is 14-5 against ULM.
The Eagles will use a new Friday night starter for the first time this season, with
Ben Johnson taking the mound to open the series. Saturday and Sunday's starters are yet to be determined. ULM has announced southpaw Cam Barlow will open the series on Friday and righty Beau Blanchard will start on Saturday, with Sunday's starter yet to be determined.
