STATESBORO – Sophomore outfielder Emma Davis was named to the NFCA All-South Region Third team as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Saturday afternoon.
This is the first All-Region selection for Davis and is the first All-Region selection since Hannah Farrell was named to the second team in 2019.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes (eight maximum) and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Davis had an outstanding year for the Georgia Southern Eagles as she started all 51 games in centerfield and hit leadoff in every game this season. The sophomore batted a team-high .384 with 63 hits, five doubles, home run, 19 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. The Grayson, Ga. native collected 21 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games on the season.
Davis led the team in batting average, runs scored, hits, walks, at-bats, stolen bases, total bases. She held a 10-game hitting streak during the season and ended the regular season on a six game hitting streak. The team leading .384 batting average currently ranks eighth in program history. Davis earned her second career Second Team All-Sun Belt honors for her performance this season.
