STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team hosts the final weekend non-conference series of the year when the Radford Highlanders come to Statesboro from Friday, March 8 to Sunday, March 10.
Georgia Southern carries a 4-8 record into the match-up after falling in midweek action to Georgia in North Augusta on Tuesday night. In that game, the Eagles and the Bulldogs were locked into a 1-1 draw late, but UGA put up six runs in the top of the ninth inning to overtake the Eagles. Radford brings a 5-5 record into the game after sweeping Long Island in the previous weekend series. Radford did not play a midweek game this week.
In the all-time series, the Eagles lead the Highlanders 7-3. The last time the two squads faced off was in 2020, when the Eagles won the Sunday rubber match by a score of 19-2 to take the series from the Highlanders. The Eagles also won the previous two series between the teams in 2016 and 2012.
The Georgia Southern Athletics Marketing team has a busy weekend planned for the baseball series, with several promotions going on at once. Alumni Weekend will be in full swing, along with the team's annual Vs. Cancer weekend. To top it all off, there will be a new promotion every game, with Friday being "Carnival at Clements," Saturday being "Decades Day," and Sunday being "Bark in the Park."
