
Chanticleers Claim Series With 6-2 Win Over Eagles

Eagles host Jacksonville in midweek action
STATESBORO – Coastal Carolina used a five-run fifth inning to take game three of the series, 6-2, on Saturday at Beautiful Eagle Field.
Georgia Southern (20-13, 4-5 SBC) struck first in the third after back-to-back singles from Emma Davis and Faith Barth, Janai Conklin recorded her sixth RBI of the season on a double to left center field putting the Eagles up 1-0.
Coastal Carolina (20-15, 3-6 SBC) responded in the fifth scoring five runs on three hits and two Eagle errors to go up 5-1.
The Eagles cut into the deficit in the sixth with its second run of the game when Barth recorded her 17th RBI on the season on an single up the middle to score Davis who reached on a base hit. The Chanticleers extended its lead back out in the sixth scoring on an RBI-single making it 6-2.
The Eagles looked to answer in the seventh with a pair of runners in scoring position, but back-to-back strikeouts and a groundout ended the threat for the final margin of 6-2.
Morgan Kendrick took the loss in the circle in her first start of the season allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five.
Raelee Brabham picked up the win for the Chanticleers to move to 14-7 on the season. Brabham allowed two runs on six hits including seven strikeouts.
Davis, Barth, and Katie Perkins recorded multi-hit performances with two hits each. The trio combined for six of the seven Eagle hits.

The Eagles homestand continues in a doubleheader against Jacksonville on Wednesday at Beautiful Eagle Field. First pitch of game one is set for 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
