Southern Scribes: A Sitdown with Brandon Vilorio

Get to know our ATs during Athletic Training Appreciation Month

STATESBORO - This month we are asking each member of our Georgia Southern athletic training staff to participate in a Q &A session for Athletic Training Appreciation Month. We will learn more about athletic training and more about the experiences of our athletic trainers and all the work they do for us behind the scenes!

Our next Q&A is with Brandon Vilorio. Brandon is an assistant athletic trainer working with football.

What is something about athletic training people often don't know?
"Athletic Trainers do a lot more than just carry water and tape ankles. We are healthcare professionals that get the unique opportunity to serve our patients daily and provide them with continuous and evolving care."

What is your favorite part about being an athletic trainer?
"My favorite part is that every day you don't know what is going to come into the training room. I like the dynamic work environment and the ability to impact each athlete that we come across on a daily basis."

What is a treatment you like but don't get us as often/your favorite treatment?
"My favorite treatment is cupping; it was one I did quite often at my previous position, but it is one of those that is not intimidating to the athletes and often something that brings relief once the treatment is done."

What is your favorite thing about working with your sport(s)?
"My favorite part about working football is interacting with the athletes and getting to learn about each one of them. On a roster of the size of football, you get the opportunity to work with athletes from all different backgrounds and experiences. It is something that I really enjoy, and I love getting to develop relationships with each of them."

Fun Fact:
"Would be a music box in another life."
