Terren Ward Earns Fourth SBC POTW Honor Of Season

Senior recorded pair of double-doubles, hit dramatic game-winning shot vs. ULM
STATESBORO - After a dramatic weekend victory that cast Georgia Southern women's basketball into the national spotlight, senior guard/forward Terren Ward has earned her fourth Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honor of the season, announced today by league officials.
Ward's layup, then subsequent steal and buzzer-beating three-pointer in the final seconds of Saturday's 69-66 win over ULM capped a game in which the senior scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. It's also the ninth straight game in which the Jesup, Ga., native has scored 20+ points, the longest such streak for an Eagle in the last 38 years at least. The ULM play was ESPN SportsCenter's No. 1 Play of the Day and was featured on social media by the NCAA Women's Basketball account, Yahoo! Sports, The Athletic, FanDuel, The Sporting News and many other outlets. Ward began the week with another double-double on Thursday with 22 points and 10 rebounds against Troy.
This season, Ward continues to rank sixth in NCAA Division I in scoring average (22.9) and her 12 double-doubles are the second-most in the nation. The Player of the Week honor is the fourth for Ward this season and the eighth of her career, extending her own school record for most weekly honors earned.
Ward and the Eagles continue their homestand on Thursday, hosting Appalachian State for a 6 p.m. Sun Belt Conference contest at Hanner Fieldhouse.
