Jesse Sherrill Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

Sherrill earns Eagles first back-to-back conference honors for the first time ever
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern second baseman Jesse Sherrill has earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors after a stellar week behind the dish.
Sherrill continued his white-hot tear this week, batting a team-high .769 through the previous four games, setting him at .429 at the end of the weekend which leads the Sun Belt ... Sherrill went 10-for-13 at the dish with three walks, three HBP, scoring eight runs of his own and bringing in four more of his own ... With a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an OB% of .842, Sherrill had an impressive 1.842 OPS for the week ... Three of Sherrill's hits were extra base hits this week. Sherrill is 27 for his last 42, good for a .643 batting avergae over that span, and is ninth in the country in batting average. He is 13th in hits but only six hits behind the national leader.
This is the first time since the Eagles joined the Sun Belt that they have had back-to-back weekly honors.
The Eagles will be back in action this weekend for a three-game conference tilt at Troy, with first pitch on Friday night set for 7 p.m. ET.
