
Four Eagles Earn CSC Academic All-District Baseball Honors

STATESBORO - Sam Blancato, Jaylen Paden, JP Tighe, and Brett Zerbel have all earned College Sport Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, the CSC announced on Monday afternoon.
Blancato, a redshirt-junior from Marietta, Ga., earns the honor after finishing the spring semester with a 3.68 GPA in Finance. This season, Blancato carries a .313 batting average with 55 hits, including 15 extra base hhits (12 doubles, a triple, and three home runs). Blancato has started all 50 games he has appeared in for the Eagles, and holds the second-highest on-base percentage on the team at .434.
Paden, the junior right-handed pitcher from Lilburn, Ga., earns the honor from CSC after finishing the spring semester with a 3.66 GPA in Management. Paden made three starts in his four appearances for the Eagles this season before being sidelined with injury. Paden pitched 11 innings, fanning 16 opposing batters while allowing 10 hits.
Tighe, a senior out of Dalton, Ga., has split time this season between playing in the outfield and catcher. Tighe finished the spring semester of his graduate program with a 3.82 in Professional Communication and Leadership. Tighe is currently batting .252 on the season with 10 extra base hits, six doubles, a triple, and three homers. Tighe is also a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen bases this season.
Zerbel, a redshirt-freshman southpaw from Augusta, Ga., earns the honor after earning a perfect 4.0 in Construction Management this semester. Zerbel currently carries a record of 1-1 this season after earning his career-first win against Appalachain State on April 15. Zerbel has pitched 16.2 innings this season with 30 hits and 18 strikeouts so far, with his top performance coming against Old Dominion on April 1, where he only allowed two hits and sat down seven Monarchs batters.
