
Eagles Fall to Charleston, 12-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Georgia Southern baseball team fell to the College of Charleston Cougars, 12-1, in seven innings on Wednesday night at The Ballpark at Patriots Point.
Wednesday night's game started as a pitcher duel, as both Georgia Southern's (24-24) and Charleston's (30-17) pitchers went two innings with no runs allowed, with the Eagles getting two hits while Cameron Oliu was hitless. Between the bottom of the third and bottom of the fifth innings, CofC scored nine runs to take the 9-0 lead over the Eagles. Georgia Southern got on the board in the top of the sixth inning with Noah Ledford's sac fly, which plated Jesse Sherrill. The Cougars would score three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 12-1 lead. The game was called after the top of the seventh inning with the 10-run rule in effect.
Charleston's Andrew Duval earned the win after pitching for three and one-third of an inning of three-hit baseball, while Brett Zerbel was charged with the loss.
