Marshall Takes Series Finale Over Eagles, 8-1

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Georgia Southern baseball team fell 8-1 to the Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday afternoon at the YMCA Kennedy Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Georgia Southern leaves Huntington with a series win over the Thundering Herd.
Marshall (16-22, 5-13 SBC) got on the board with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, one from an RBI-double and the other three from a three-run homer. The Eagles (20-20, 10-8 SBC) earned its first run in the top of the fourth inning, when Jesse Sherrill's bases-loaded RBI-bunt single back to the picher scored AJ Wenrich, but the inning would come to an end shortly after that, getting the Eagles on the board and trailing 4-1. Marshall would score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, one off of a sac fly and one from an RBI-single. Marshall would score the final two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-RBI double to put the score at 8-1, which became the eventual final score.
Ga'von Wray came in for long relief in the bottom of the second inning, where he pitched for three and two thirds, only giving up two runs and fanning four Marshall batters.

The Eagles will play the next four games at home, starting with a regional bout with College of Charleston on Tuesday, April 25, before jumping back into Sun Belt Conference play with a three-game series with ULM starting on Friday, April 28.
