STATESBORO - Georgia Southern senior Terren Ward has been named the first Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced today by league officials.
Ward recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Eagles as Georgia Southern started the season 2-0 for a third straight year. She started the season with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots in a win over Allen on Wednesday, then filled the stat sheet with 20 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Eagles' 82-58 win over Eastern Michigan as a part of the SBC/MAC Challenge on Saturday.
The double-doubles were the 19th and 20th of Ward's career, and the Player of the Week award is the fifth career honor for the Jesup, Ga., native. She twice earned Player of the Week honors during the 2022-23 season and earned the honor once each during 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Ward and the Eagles will be next in action on Thursday, traveling to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on the Jacksonville Dolphins at 6:30 p.m. from Swisher Gymnasium.
