First diver to win the honor since the North Texas' Cathrine Johnson in 2013
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Karlee Wells was named the first Sun Belt Diver of the Week for the 2023-24 season, the conference announced on Thursday morning. The honor marks the first SBC weekly honor for the Eagles in program history, as well as the first diving honor the conference has given out since 2013.
Wells earned high marks for the Eagles over the weekend in the Moultrie College Invitational, where she placed first in the three-meter dive competition with a score of 271.15, which was just eight points shy of her career-best. In the one-meter dive, Wells finished in second place with a score of 256.90.
Wells becomes the first Eagle to earn a weekly honor in the 2023-24 season. Last season, Zuri Clavo was named CCSA Swimmer of the Week for the week of Oct. 18.
The Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 14, when the Georgia Southern swimmers return to North Florida for a one-on-one meet with the Osprey.
