Orlando, Fla. --- The Georgia Southern swim & dive team wrapped up their third day at the ASUn Championship meet on Friday night (February 20th).
In the 100 Breast prelims, two Eagles in Ieva Evaltaite and Sarah Luskus would place top-15 with their 1:04.33 and 1:05.01, respectively. The next two events were historic for the Eagles program.
In the 200 Fly prelims, Sterling Burd would place fifth overall, swimming a 2:03.37 to set a new Georgia Southern record by just 0.18 seconds. She places her name in front of Madlen Wendland who set the record twice in 2023. Later that day, the 800 Free relay team of Burd, Carsyn Cosman, Jamison Tiller and Calissa Kissinger would go for fourth in thr Finals and set a new school record with their 7:24.60, a record that both Tiller and Cosman set just last season.
That night, the 100 Breast Finals saw Ieva and Sarah place 12th and 14th overall, respectively, while posting their season bests in the event. Burd would also stay consistent through her 200 Fly Finals event, swimming the exact same time she did earlier that day to secure 5th overall.
After three days, the Eagles sit in fifth of the standings of the nine ASun contenders. Delaware and FGCU hold the lead with one day to go, with Queens and UNC Asheville trailing right behind them.
The Eagles wrap up their time in Orlando tomorrow as the ASun Championship reaches its conclusion tomorrow.
