Eagles Close Out Fist Day of ASun Championships With 3M Gold

Orlando, Fla. --- The Georgia Southern swim & dive team wrapped up Day 1 of the ASUn Conferemce Championships this evening (February 18th) at the Rosen Aquatic Center.
In the prelims, Sterling Burd and Victoria Kjaerullf both finished in the top-15 of the 500 Free, with Burd swimming a 5:01.88 to finish 9th. In the 200 IM, Scout Chapin would fly for a 2:05.81 for another top-ten Eagle finish.
In the 3M Dive prelims, three Georgia Southern divers would finish in the top seven, with Karlee Wells leading the way with her third-place prelim score of 280.20.
Wednesday night's finals started with Burd and Kjaerullf going 15th and 16th overall, respectively, in the 500 Free B Finals. Chapin would also be a B Finals participant, placing 12th overall in the 200 IM Finals. In the 50 Free, Cosman would swim a 23.84 in the B Finals to place 15th overall.
The highlight of the day was the 3M Dive finals, where Wells would take the crown with her 292.05 score. The win would be her first conference championship title of her career. Ounsworth would improve her prelim score by nearly 17 points to place 5th overall, while Taulbee took 7th with her 223.55.
The Eagles continue their ASun title quest tomorrow (February 19th) wih the 200 Free Relay, 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, 400 Medley Relay and 1 M Dive.
