STATESBORO - For the first time in program history, the Georgia Southern baseball program will host NCAA Regional games at J.I. Clements Stadium this Friday-Sunday, June 3-5, with an if necessary game played Monday evening, June 6.
The Eagles are the tournament's No. 16 overall seed after going 40-18 and advancing to the Sun Belt championship. GS, the top seed in the region, will host second-seeded Notre Dame, third-seeded Texas Tech and fourth-seeded UNCG as part of the Statesboro Regional, with the winner of the double-elimination format advancing to the Super Regional round next weekend. The winner of this Regional will play the winner of the Knoxville Regional. Friday's action kicks off with Notre Dame and Texas Tech squaring off at 2 p.m., followed by the Eagles and Spartans playing at 7 p.m.
REGIONAL CENTRAL
Get up to speed with five things to know ahead of this weekend's Statesboro Regional:
1. IT'S A SELL OUT. Record crowds are expected this weekend as all reserved tickets are sold out for every game. A very limited number of Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets remain and are $50 for the entire Regional.
PLEASE NOTE: Any single-game tickets returned by visiting teams will go on sale at 10am on game day for each day. For example, any available tickets for games 1 & 2 will go on sale Friday morning at 10am. Those tickets will be reserved seats and will go live on
GSEagles.com/Tickets for $15/each per game and will be sold a first come, first served basis.
All tickets will be delivered digitally as J.I. Clements Stadium will be a mobile-only venue. Ticket purchasers are encouraged to download their tickets to their mobile devices ahead of time.
Gates will open two (2) hours before the first game of the day, but the stadium has to be cleared after every contest. When the stadium is cleared, it will be re-opened for fans to re-enter for the second games. You must use a new ticket for each game!
2. PARKING FOR ALL. There are several options available for parking. Fans who already purchased an all-regional parking pass for the upper lot behind Clements Stadium may only access that lot through Southern Drive/Sweetheart Circle.Â
PLEASE NOTE: That paid upper lot has already sold out for the entire regional. Parking passes have already been delivered electronically and must be downloaded to your mobile device. The lot behind Iron Works will be reserved for media/staff and workers.Â
Fans looking for free parking may park in front of the Dan J. Parrish Building, in front of Hanner Fieldhouse, or on Sweetheart Circle. Sweetheart Circle parking is open to all for free parking all weekend, including Friday and Monday. RVs are only allowed to park in front of Hanner Fieldhouse and may begin setting up at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
There is no access to the Clements Lot from Fair Road, nor access to the Parrish Lot from Southern Drive as the connection road will be blocked by ESPN trucks.
Ticketing and Parking Map Please note, the Clements Lot is sold out!
3. FOOD TRUCKS AND MORE! In anticipation of the record-setting crowds, the athletics department is bringing in several local food trucks to help alleviate the burden of the main concession stand. These trucks will be outside the new Gate 4 but will be considered part of the stadium. This area will be tented to give fans a chance to cool off and enjoy different food and dessert choices. Alcohol will be sold to those 21 and over.
Also, with high temperatures expected, the department is also allowing each paying customer to bring in two bottles of water. Hydration stations with complimentary chilled water will also be available in the stadium. Please hydrate properly!
4. CLEAR BAG POLICY. Georgia Southern's Clear Bag Policy is in effect for the entire Regional.
Please familiarize yourself with the policy before leaving your car.
5. ATTEND. LISTEN. WATCH. If you have a ticket, we encourage you to show up and be loud. If you don't, you can listen to Danny and Colin call the game on the Georgia Southern Sports Network on these affiliates or on
GSEagles.com. You can also watch the game on ESPN+ or a linear network if it's picked up later in the weekend as Mike Morgan and former MLB player Gaby Sanchez have the call.
We look forward to a packed house in OUR HOUSE this weekend as the Eagles make history by hosting a Regional. As always, be sure to follow
GS Baseball on Twitter for up-to-date information and news if it's warranted. We'll see you all Friday!
