
Eagles Tabbed for Second Place in Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Georgia Southern Eagles baseball team has been picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference, as voted on by coaches around the conference.
The Eagles come into the 2022 campaign with 23 returning players, including key contributors such as Christian Avant, Noah Ledford, and Jason Swan. They ended the previous season with a 34-23 mark, advancing all the way to the Sun Belt Conference Championship before falling to South Alabama.
The aforementioned Jaguars are picked to finish first in the conference with 139 total points and seven first place votes. The Eagles land right behind them with 118 points, but without a first place vote. Coastal Carolina and Louisiana are tied for third with 117 points each, with the Chanticleers earning three first place votes to the Ragin' Cajuns two first place votes.
The Eagles will travel to South Alabama and Louisiana, while hosting the Chanticleers in J.I. Clements Stadium this season.
UTA (78), Troy (74), Texas State (71), and Little Rock (63) round out the middle of the poll, and ULM (59), App State (38), Georgia State (34) and Arkansas State (28) finish out the poll. The Eagles will miss out on playing ULM in the regular season.
Georgia Southern opens the season February 18 on the road against #19 Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. The Eagles will host their home opener against #21 Georgia Tech on February 22 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available now at gseagles.com/tickets.
