STATESBORO – Due to COVID-19 concerns within the Texas State men's basketball program, Georgia Southern's home game against the Bobcats scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 6, in Hanner Fieldhouse has been canceled per Sun Belt Conference policy.

Under the policy, games that cannot be played due to COVID-19 will be canceled, considered a no-contest, and not be rescheduled. The minimum threshold required to compete is seven (7) student-athletes (scholarship or non-scholarship), plus one full-time coach. If a team meets that minimum threshold, they are required to play. Teams may choose to play with less than the minimum threshold.

The Eagles are scheduled to host UTA Saturday at 3 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse, and the game will air on ESPN+ and the GS Radio Network.
