Head Coach Chris Adams' first full season with the Eagles features seven home matches
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Women's Soccer Coach Chris Adams announced the Fall 2021 schedule today. The Eagles' slate consists of seven home matches and 19 matches overall, plus the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
In his first full season at the helm of the Eagles, Head Coach Adams will have the normal slate of Sun Belt opponents plus non-conference contests against No. 23 Ole Miss, former SoCon rivals Davidson, The Citadel and in-state rival Mercer dotting the schedule. "I am very happy with the schedule for this fall for two separate reasons," Head Coach Adams said. "First off, we have a very challenging non-conference schedule which should prepare us for conference play. Secondly, we get the opportunity to play everyone from our conference in the Fall, which will give us a true indicator as to where we are in relation to the top teams in the Sun Belt.
"I also feel that playing each team once will be the best way to determine a true conference champion," Head Coach Adams said. "Our goal is to be in that conversation when the season draws to a close at the end of October, so that we can put ourselves in a favorable situation to advance at the conference tournament."
The Eagles will have one exhibition match at a neutral-site location to prepare for opening day. Georgia Southern will take on UNC Asheville on August 14 at the MESA Soccer Complex in Greer, S.C.
Georgia Southern opens up on the road, making one of three trips to Charleston, S.C., this year by taking on the College of Charleston at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 19.
