McWhorter and Jones Named Collegiate Baseball All-Americans

TUSCON, Ariz. – On Thursday morning, Collegiate Baseball News announced their 2021 Baseball All-Americans. Georgia Southern's Mason McWhorter and Nick Jones were named to the lists after a record-breaking final season with the Eagles. 
 
McWhorter, who has already been named the Sun Belt Player of the Year as well as being named to the Dick Howser Trophy Semifinal list, was named to the outlet's first team. He finished the 2021 season with a .372 average at the plate, leading the Eagles with a career-high 18 home runs. The fifth-year senior drove in 52 runs this season and broke the school record for career doubles with 67.
 
The Cumming, Georgia, native played in 242 games during his career, posting a .320 average at the plate. He tallied a .554 slugging percentage in his five seasons, walking 99 times. The senior has his named littered in the record books.
 
Jones was named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Second-Team on Thursday morning, after leading the nation in saves with 17. The 17 saves tied a Georgia Southern school record. The lefty posted a 1.48 ERA in his 29 appearances. He posted a 1-0 record on the mound and has tallied 67 strikeouts in his 42 and 2/3 innings of work.
 
Both Jones and McWhorter were named to the Dick Howser Semifinalist list earlier this season, while Jones was named to the Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List.
