STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern baseball retired the final 17 batters of the ballgame on Tuesday evening at J.I. Clements Stadium to defeat the UNF Ospreys 8-6. The Eagles improved to 18-13 on the season, while UNF falls to 9-15 on the year.

Hayden Harris picked up his first win of the season, improving to 1-1, after pitching three innings of no-hit baseball. Harris recorded five strikeouts, as the Ospreys struck out 10 times in the game.

Steven Curry got the Eagles on the board in the first inning, homering for the second time in as many games this season to left field. In the second the Eagles added to the scoring when
Mason McWhorter punched a sacrifice fly out to center field to score
JP Tighe.
Christian Avant would add his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot down the line in left to increase the lead to 4-0.

In the third UNF would cut into the Eagles lead, scoring three runs. In the fourth they would take the lead 6-4, on a two-run home run to center field. Georgia Southern would respond in the sixth, as Avant added two more RBIs on the night with a single through the left side.Â

The Eagles would regain the lead in the seventh, when
Jason Swan forced an errant throw at third to score a pair of Eagles.
Jacob Parker would come on in the final two frames, striking out four batters, including the side in the ninth to earn his first career save.Â
