STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, in conjunction with APEX, will team up to collect socks for those in need at upcoming home Eagle events.
The most-needed item for homeless shelters is socks and SAAC and APEX are teaming up to help with this need in the winter months. Over the course of the drive, the two groups will have student-athletes collecting new and unused socks at the entrances to several athletic facilities from Feb. 9-19.
Weather has canceled several of the donation athletic home contests and we are still in need of Â
"new socks."Â
Help SAAC reach the goal of 1,000
pairs of socks and we are currently at 300 pairs. The donations will be going to residents at the local shelters.Â

Next Collection Events:
Friday, Feb. 19 - Baseball vs. Tennessee, 4:00 p.m., J.I. Clements StadiumÂ
Saturday, Feb. 20 - Baseball vs Tennessee, 2:00 p.m., J.I. Clements Stadium
A large cardboard box decorated with "Spring Sock Drive" and a giant drawn thermometer will be at each collection site to show the amount of donations over the course of the drive. Fans are encouraged to donate socks at each game to this worthy cause.
All donations will be going to Safe Haven and Open Hearts Mission Shelters of Statesboro.
