BOONE, N.C. – Donovan Gregory hit the go-ahead free-throw with 8.6 seconds left, and Appalachian State held Georgia Southern scoreless for the final 4:09 of the contest as the Mountaineers topped Georgia Southern 66-63 in Sun Belt Conference men's basketball action Friday night in the Holmes Center.
The Mountaineers rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit, and Gregory's free throw gave them a 64-63 lead, their first of the period. Following an Eagle timeout, Eric Boone got the ball to Prince Toyambi in the post, but the redshirt sophomore's turnaround jumper went off the glass and rolled off the front of the rim. The Eagles fouled Justin Forrest with 0.5 on the clock, and the senior made both free throws for the final margin.

Toyambi finished with team highs of 12 points and 11 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass, for the first double-double of his career. Boone finished with 10 points, two assists and two steals, while Elijah McCadden and Zack Bryant each scored nine.
