QUICK HITS

  • Mitchell Golden enters the week riding a six game hitting streak. The junior DH has posted a 9-for-20 line during that time and has the longest hitting streak of any Eagle this season.
  • Mason McWhorter had himself a week, driving in eight runs and scoring five more himself for the blue and white. McWhorter had a career-day on Sunday, hitting a grand slam and doubling down the line in right the next inning to amass seven RBIs on the day.
  • Tyler Owens proved to be the difference against No. 4 Georgia in the first meeting between the two programs in 2020. Owens posted seven strong innings, allowing one run off three hits. Hayden Harris came on and closed the game out in the eighth and ninth to record the top-5 victory over the Bulldogs.
  • Parker Biederer made a momentum changing catch in the bottom of the first inning against No. 4 Georgia in the first meeting. The freshman scaled the wall in center field to rob Tucker Bradley of a two-run home run to keep the game scoreless. The Bulldogs would not score until the Eagles had taken a 6-0 lead and the game ended 6-3.
  • Georgia Southern baseball rides a five game winning streak into the back-to-back midweek matchups with the Bulldogs. The Eagles posted the first five game winning streak since April of 2016.
  • Christian Avant had an impressive week in the lineup for the Eagles once again. Avant drove in three runs against No. 4 Georgia in the first meeting and collected his fourth career home run in Sunday's 12-0 victory over Valparaiso.
