Post-Spring Wrap-Up: The Special Teams

GSEagles.com catches up with each position coach following the shortened spring ball

Even with spring practice being cut short, the Georgia Southern football coaching staff was able to evaluate its program through offseason lifting and conditioning, as well as six on-field practices. GSEagles.com was able to catch up with each coach via email to get their thoughts on their group, as well as a preliminary two-deep heading into the fall.

Today, we hear from head coach Chad Lunsford as he talks about the special teams.

Who stood out for your group in the short amount of time you were practicing?:
Anthony Beck II and Ryan Langan continue to raise their game to another level. The chemistry between the punter/snapper and holder/snapper can not be overlooked. These guys continue work really well together and look forward to seeing them excel this season.

Who's someone who didn't see a lot of game action that has impressed you this offseason?:
Alex Raynor and Bryce Christensen have done an awesome job this off-season. We have a great battle going on between these two guys to see who is going to take over for Tyler Bass this coming season. Looking forward to seeing their battle in upcoming training camp this August.

What will be a top priority for your group when you return to the field?:
The priority is to pick up where we left off on special teams last year and raise it to a higher level. Our guys are committed to special teams more than any other school I have ever been at. I know they are looking forward to the challenge.

What excites you about your group?:
The biggest thing that excites me is their commitment to the attention to detail. They want to be great and they strive for it every day.

Who is or are the vocal leader(s) in your meeting room?:
Anthony Beck and Ryan Langan have really stepped up as leaders for the specialists. They also have made an impression on our team as they were also added to our Foundation Committee. This committee is the leadership representatives for our team and this was a big deal for them to be picked.

Who leads more by example?:
Really the whole group does a great job of leading by example. However, if I had to pick I would go with Anthony Beck II and Ryan Langan. Both guys really exude what the GS Man is all about. They are Blue Collar, Disciplined and Tough.
