STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football team opens Sun Belt Conference action on Saturday as it travels to the Commonwealth of Virginia to take on James Madison at Bridgeforth Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:32 p.m. and it will be carried on ESPN+. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network. Here's all you need to know about the game:

- Southern and JMU played eight straight seasons from 1985 to 1992. After dropping the first game 21-6 at Bridgeforth Stadium, the Eagles rolled off eight straight wins. JMU cut into the series lead with a 41-13 win in Harrisonburg in 2023, but the Eagles took a 9-2 lead in the series with a 28-14 win at home last year.
- Both of JMU's wins in the series came at Bridgeforth Stadium. The Dukes beat the Eagles in 1985 and then rolled to a 41-13 win the last time these two played in Harrisonburg.
