The junior guard comes to Statesboro from UAB.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball coach Mark Byington announced today that Zack Bryant has joined program.
A transfer from UAB, Bryant played in three contests in the 2019-20 season. He will be eligible to compete for the Eagles in the 2020-21 campaign.
"Zack is an extremely talented guard, and we are excited to have him in our program," said Byington. "He can dominate the game with his athletic ability, his scoring ability and breaking down defenses to find others. He will help us in practice the remainder of the season but should be one of the best guards in the Sun Belt Conference next season. He is looking for a fresh start that is closer to his home so we believe we can help his dreams come true here at Georgia Southern."
Bryant led UAB in scoring last season with 14.9 points a game and averaged 14.1 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 70 contests in his two-plus seasons with the Blazers. The Hastings, Florida, native was a third-team All-CUSA pick in 2019 and selected to the CUSA All-Freshmen Team in 2018.
Georgia Southern plays five of its next seven on the road starting with a trip to The Pelican State this week. GS takes on ULM Thursday and Louisiana Saturday, and both games tip off at 8 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN+.
