STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern track and field team returns to the campus of the University of South Carolina inside the Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex for the Carolina Challenge.
Many teams, primarily from the Southeast, are expected at the two-day competition.
The last meet was also at South Carolina for the Gamecock Opener Jan. 17-18. In the meet,
Merabu Nagwandala broke her own indoor school record in the 3000m with a time of 10:07.77 and also set a new indoor school record in the 5000m with a time of 17:46.59.
Scovia Ayikoru also moved up to third in the school's all-time top 200m times with a 24.55.
Carley Braman ran the school's fifth-best indoor 5000m time with a 18:37.69 mark.
Currently, the Eagles hold top five Sun Belt marks in four events. Ayikoru ranks first in the 400m, second in the 200m and fifth in the 60m while Nagwandala ranks fourth in 5000m.

Following the meet, the team will have a week off before traveling to Birmingham for the Samford Invite Feb. 14 ahead of the Sun Belt Indoor Championship Feb. 24-25.
