STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern women's soccer team kicked off preseason practice and the
Josh Moffet era Tuesday morning at the Eagle Creek practice fields.
"It was great to get out on the field with the team this morning," interim head coach
Josh Moffet said. "The energy was high and there was a lot of talent on show. There's no doubt that this team has quality, and it's now up to my staff and I to help them see how good they truly can be. This is only the first step, but the first of many in our journey ahead!"
The Eagles started off with getting in some good touches on the ball, a bit of conditioning and passing and shooting practice. The ladies got in a lunch at the Georgia Southern Dining Commons and then headed to Iron Works for a strength & conditioning training session. The afternoon ended with another practice session on the banks of Beautiful Eagle Creek.
"It was a hard first practice back," senior
Nicole Aussin said. "I think that is what we need to get back into the swing of things. Being a senior, it's a little sad starting back up but we're going to make this the best year yet. We have a fresh slate with Josh being our new head coach. It'll give us a good opportunity to show off our talents."
The Eagles will be back to practicing Wednesday morning at Eagle Creek.
Georgia Southern will host Jacksonville State for a scrimmage on Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at Eagle Field. The first official game of the season will be against Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
