STORYLINES
- Georgia Southern makes its biennial trip to face Georgia State this week with three games at the Georgia State Baseball Complex in Decatur. Georgia Southern enters the series on a four game league winning streak. The Panthers have lost six straight entering the series.
- Georgia Southern enters the final three games of league play with a magic number of two to claim first place in the East Division and the No. 2 seed for next week's Sun Belt Tournament.
- Georgia Southern took a 10-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Kennesaw State tied and later took the 11-10 walk off win. Steven Curry had two doubles as the Eagles played their longest game of 2019 in the final non-conference game of the regular season.
- Georgia Southern leads the all time series with Georgia State 66-23 and took two of three last year in Statesboro. Last time the Eagles came to Decatur, State took the opening two games before the Eagles won the finale 13-3.
- The Eagles enter the Georgia State series on a run of five-straight games of scoring double digit runs. That's a feat that hasn't been done by the Eagles in the BBCOR era. The last time the Eagles scored in double digits in five straight games was April/May 2008 against Wofford, Jacksonville and The Citadel when the Eagles scored 80 runs in five games.
- Sun Belt games have been a boon for Mason McWhorter this season. In 27 games, Mason is hitting .385 with 12 doubles and 11 home runs while driving in 49 runs. He is slugging .786 from the No. 2 slot in the lineup. All of his home runs this season have come in league play. His season has been highlighted by a three home run day in the finale at Troy and a career-high seven RBis in game two against South Alabama.
- Among the many tools in his kit, Steven Curry has shown a knack for wearing pitches. In his 165 career games with the Eagles, Steven has been hit 61 times, surpassing J.R. Revere's previously held school record of 58. He has been hit 19 times this season with 10 of those coming in the final game of the weekend series.
- For the 19th time in the last 20 years under Head Coach Rodney Hennon, Georgia Southern has reached the 30-win plateau. The Eagles reach the milestone with four games remaining in the regular season. Georgia Southern has scored 40+ wins three times under Coach Hennon, most recently in 2014. In 22 total seasons, Coach Hennon has had 21 30+ win seasons.

UP NEXT
Next up for the Eagles is the 2019 Sun Belt Tournament in Conway, South Carolina. The tournament will start on Tuesday, May 21st. Georgia Southern will open tournament play the following day on Wednesday, May 22nd. Every game of the 2019 Sun Belt Baseball Tournament can be seen live on ESPN+.
