STORYLINES
- Coming off a series win over UNC Asheville, Georgia Southern travels to Georgia Tech for a midweek battle with the Yellow Jackets. The game opens a six game road swing for the Eagles.
- Georgia Southern closed out the seven game home stand with a 14-0 win over UNC Asheville. The Eagles scored early and often in the game, putting the game out of reach with an eight run seventh inning.
- The Eagles are 31-102 all-time against the Yellow Jackets and look to snap a nine-game skid against the Institute. The last win for the Eagles came on Feb. 19, 2014 when the Eagles took a 4-3 win in Statesboro in front of 3,213 fans. Georgia Southern dropped a 7-1 game last year in Statesboro and a 3-1 decision in Midtown.
- Among the many tools in his kit,
Steven Curry has shown a knack for wearing pitches. In his 127 career games with the Eagles, Steven has been hit 50 times to rank fifth in school history, only eight behind J.R. Revere's career total. In 2019, Curry has been hit eight times with five coming in the finale of a weekend series.
- In the series finale against UNC Asheville,
Noah Ledford hit a pair of leadoff home runs in the fifth and seventh innings. His fifth inning bomb cleared the Blue Monster in right, while the seventh inning blast exited in the right field power alley.
- Georgia Southern hit three home runs in the seventh inning on Sunday against UNC Asheville to hang a snowman against the Bulldogs. The Eagles got the big inning off seven hits, six going for extra bases. The last time the Eagles scored eight in an inning was March 2nd, 2014 against Ohio. The Eagles scored eight off four hits and just one home run. A freshman in 2014,
Ryan Cleveland stole home in the game.
- Junior
Tyler Owens opened his account with the Eagles in splendid fashion on February 26 against the Coll. of Charleston. Owens tossed seven innings of two hit, shutout ball to earn his first Division I win. He didn't issue a walk and fanned five. The offense had his back, scoring a season-high eight runs in the win.
