Eagles SOAR Over BCU and ABAC at home
Statesboro, Ga. - Georgia weather made no distractions for the Eagles today in Wallis Tennis Center. The Women's Tennis team dominated over both Bethune-Cookman University and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The Blue and White won their matches 4-1, 7-0, to move 6-4 on the 2019 seasons.
Weather delays were no match for the Eagle's momentum today as they soared over both BCU and ABAC in Statesboro. The Blue and White started out strong against Bethune-Cookman with Lindsay Truscott and Luisa Hrda taking down BCU's Afrika Smith and Chalina Godbolt, 6-4. Paula Boixader and Elizabeth Goines defeated Sheerly Bueno and Karen Romero, 6-1, sealing the doubles point for the Eagles early in the day. The same energy was kept as the Eagles took the match, 4-1, and moved on to face ABAC.
The Blue and White soared over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, taking the match 7-0. The Eagles pulled together to win both the doubles and singles point by winning every set against the Stallions even with the distraction of delays.
WHAT HEAD COACH SEAN MCCAFFREY SAID
"We were lucky to get both matches in today as we had to dodge rain and the possibility of slippery courts. I believe the team did a good job of staying focused even though it is easy to get distracted when having to deal with weather related delays. I think we are still developing and I am excited to see us getting both physically and mentally stronger during competition."
