CLEMSON, S.C. – The Georgia Southern track and field team opened its indoor season Saturday at the Clemson Season Opener highlighted by
Merabu Nagwandala's win in the 1-mile and a record 3000m display, and
Scovia Ayikoru's performance in the 200m and 400m.
Nagwandala broke the Georgia Southern school record in the 3000m at 10:23.65 with a third-place finish while Ayikoru placed second in the 200m with a time of 24.79, the fourth best indoor time in Georgia Southern history. Ayikoru also won the 400m with a time of 56.11.
Middle/Hurdles: Ellunde Montgomery ran a new personal-record in the 600m of 1:37.84 to finish 9th.
Jakeeyah Seymour hit a new PR in the 60H prelims with a time of 9.18.
Meagan Lynch set a new PR in the 300m with a time of 40.15 to finish 12th out of 47 runners.
Distance: Nagwandala broke the school record in the 3000m and also won the 1-mile run with a time of 5:10.15.
Jumps: Seymour jumped a career-best 17-5 ½ in the long jump on her way to 16
th.
Throws: Soteria Russell throws 48-5 and 41-11¼ in the weight throw and shot put respectively in her first action as an Eagle.
